OUR HEALING COLLECTIVE
LISA WHITTINGHAM, LCPC, RYT-200
HI, I'M LISA
With life changing at such a rapid pace, you may feel it's getting difficult to cope with daily home routines, or things that aren't the way they used to be. Maybe your child who was very well behaved has become surprisingly disagreeable or increasingly picking fights. You may notice your child; asserting an unusually strong sense of independence, spending less time with regular family activities, pushing you away, shutting down, refusing to go to school, more time on social media, less time with friends, grades dropping or spending long hours in their room with the door shut. You could even be noticing changes in appearance, clothing style, the name they want you to use instead of their birth name or they may be openly exploring their gender identity. Whether the changes in your life are sudden or seem to be gradually escalating, you may be more and more concerned about how to help or how to cope. You deserve a place to open up and move through challenges to find balance.
"I BELIEVE WE CAN RESTORE BALANCE"
With over 20 years as a counseling psychologist and a mother of three children, I not only understand how challenging family and home changes can be, I have experienced first hand the complex journey of gender identity with one of my own children. I know how overwhelming, complicated and oftentimes confusing changes and emotions involved with sexual orientation and gender identity can be.I believe that having the support to talk freely along with creative modalities, such as music, yoga, or humor, we can harmonize our vast range of feelings.
I learned the importance of compassion coupled with a sense of humor and creativity through my own journey of balancing work-life-parenting. My 25 year mindfulness practice, including yoga, meditation and music, led me to teaching and integrating these therapeutic tools with my clients. During my work with children on the autism spectrum I witnessed how breathwork and yoga helped calm emotions, regulate the nervous system and facilitate the healing process of restoring balance to the body and mind.
I am passionate about helping people, especially parents and adolescents, realize how important and real their feelings are. I believe that when we learn how to let our guard down to open up we can move through inner changes and struggles with confidence. I am dedicated to guiding people to find the inner strength to blossom and refresh relationships.
Whether sadness, grief or ongoing tugs at your heartstrings, you are not alone. I understand what it's like to move through challenges to find balance. You deserve to have a place to express yourself with or without words. You can reach understanding, acceptance and inner calm. I am here to help you discover solutions on your way back to healing and harmony. It would be an honor to connect with you.
